This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your personal and credit-related information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.
To provide credit assistance we typically collect: your name, contact details and date of birth; identification documents; details of your income, assets, liabilities and expenses; employment and business information; and information about the loan or property involved. We collect only what we reasonably need to help you.
We usually collect information directly from you. We may also collect it from third parties such as your accountant, financial planner, employer, the person who referred you, lenders, valuers and credit reporting bodies — where you have authorised us to do so or where the law permits.
We use your information to assess your needs, compare and recommend credit products, prepare and submit applications, manage your file, comply with our legal and licensing obligations, and (with your consent) keep you informed about products and services that may benefit you.
In arranging finance we may disclose your information to, and obtain credit information from, credit reporting bodies such as Equifax, illion and Experian. You have rights in relation to your credit information, including the right to request access, to seek correction, and to ask a credit reporting body not to use your information for direct marketing or pre-screening. You may also request that a credit reporting body not use or disclose your information if you believe you have been, or are at risk of being, a victim of fraud.
We may disclose your information to: lenders and product providers; our licensee, QED Credit Services Pty Ltd; credit reporting bodies; valuers, insurers and other service providers involved in your application; our software, IT and administration providers; and regulators or other parties where required or authorised by law. We do not sell your personal information.
Some of our service providers (for example, cloud hosting and software providers) may store or process information on servers located outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the APPs.
From time to time we may contact you with information we believe is relevant to you. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us.
We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure, and to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer required.
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
